Salted Caramel Bars

Ingredients
- •1 cup all-purpose flour
- •1/2 cup butter, softened
- •1/4 cup granulated sugar
- •1/4 teaspoon salt
- •1 cup granulated sugar
- •6 tablespoons butter
- •1/2 cup heavy cream
- •1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- •1 teaspoon sea salt
- •6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions
- 1Preheat oven to 350°F and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- 2Mix flour, softened butter, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon salt until combined, then press into the prepared pan and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.
- 3In a saucepan, combine 1 cup sugar and 6 tablespoons butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture turns amber colored, about 10-12 minutes.
- 4Remove from heat and slowly stir in heavy cream and vanilla extract, being careful as the mixture will bubble.
- 5Pour the caramel over the cooled shortbread crust and sprinkle with sea salt.
- 6Melt chocolate chips and drizzle over the caramel layer.
- 7Allow to cool completely at room temperature for at least 15 minutes, then cut into 16 squares and serve.
