Sausage Butty
A classic British breakfast sandwich featuring juicy grilled sausages nestled in soft buttered bread with crispy onions and tomato sauce.

Ingredients
- •2 pork sausages
- •2 slices white or brown bread
- •1 tablespoon butter
- •1/2 medium onion, sliced
- •1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- •2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
- •1 tablespoon brown sauce (HP or Lea & Perrins)
- •to taste salt and pepper
Directions
- 1Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat and cook the sausages for 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- 2In the same pan, add the sliced onions and fry for 4-5 minutes until softened and beginning to caramelize.
- 3Toast the bread slices and spread butter on both sides while still warm.
- 4Spread tomato ketchup and brown sauce on one slice of bread.
- 5Place the cooked sausages on top of the sauced bread, then add the fried onions.
- 6Top with the second slice of bread, slice diagonally if desired, and serve immediately.
