Shrimp Po'Boy

Crispy fried shrimp piled high on a toasted baguette with tangy remoulade, lettuce, tomato, and pickles.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon pickle relish
  • 2 French baguettes or sub rolls
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce, tomato slices, and dill pickle chips

Directions

  1. 1Mix flour, cayenne, paprika, salt, and black pepper in a shallow bowl.
  2. 2Heat oil in a large skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  3. 3Coat shrimp in seasoned flour, shaking off excess, then fry in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  4. 4Combine mayonnaise, ketchup, and pickle relish in a small bowl to make remoulade sauce.
  5. 5Slice baguettes in half lengthwise and toast lightly.
  6. 6Spread remoulade on toasted baguettes, then layer with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and fried shrimp.
  7. 7Serve immediately while shrimp is hot and crispy.
