Shrimp Toast

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 egg white egg white
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying
  • to taste salt and white pepper

Directions

  1. 1Finely chop shrimp and combine with mayonnaise, cornstarch, soy sauce, sesame oil, egg white, garlic, salt, and white pepper until well mixed.
  2. 2Spread the shrimp mixture evenly onto each slice of bread, pressing gently to adhere.
  3. 3Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  4. 4Carefully place bread slices shrimp-side down into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. 5Flip and fry the other side for 1-2 minutes until light golden.
  6. 6Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  7. 7Cut diagonally into triangles and serve immediately with sweet and sour sauce or hot mustard for dipping.
