Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns

Directions

  1. 1Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook ground beef with diced onion until beef is browned and onion is soft, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
  2. 2Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, and mustard, mixing well.
  3. 3Add salt and pepper, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5-8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens slightly.
  4. 4Toast hamburger buns lightly if desired, then spoon the Sloppy Joe mixture onto each bun and serve immediately.
