Ingredients

  • 4-5 pounds pork shoulder
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

Directions

  1. 1Pat the pork shoulder dry and trim excess fat.
  2. 2Mix brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt in a small bowl.
  3. 3Rub the spice mixture generously all over the pork shoulder.
  4. 4Place pork in slow cooker and add apple cider vinegar and chicken broth.
  5. 5Cover and cook on low for 8 hours until meat is very tender and shreds easily with a fork.
  6. 6Remove pork, shred with two forks, and return to slow cooker.
  7. 7Stir in barbecue sauce and cook on low for 30 more minutes.
  8. 8Serve on buns or with your favorite sides.
