Ingredients

  • 2 lb ground turkey
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 2 carrots, finely diced
  • 2 celery stalks, finely diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cans (796 ml each) tomatoes, crushed
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated

Directions

  1. 1Brown ground turkey in a large skillet, breaking it into fine crumbles.
  2. 2Add onion, carrots, celery, and garlic; cook until the vegetables begin to soften.
  3. 3Stir in tomato paste for 1 minute, then transfer everything to the slow cooker.
  4. 4Add crushed tomatoes, milk, oregano, bay leaf, and salt.
  5. 5Cover and cook on LOW for 6 hours, stirring once if convenient.
  6. 6Remove the bay leaf, stir in Parmesan, and adjust the seasoning.
  7. 7Serve with freshly cooked pasta and freeze extra sauce in meal-size portions.
