Soft Pretzels

Ingredients
- •1 1/2 cups warm water
- •2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
- •1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- •4 cups all-purpose flour
- •1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- •2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- •10 cups water
- •1/4 cup baking soda
- •1 egg
- •2 tablespoons coarse pretzel salt
Directions
- 1Mix warm water, yeast, and sugar; let sit 5 minutes. Add flour, salt, and oil; knead until smooth. Let rise 1 hour until doubled.
- 2Divide dough into 8 pieces. Roll each into a 24-inch rope and twist into a pretzel shape.
- 3Boil 10 cups water with baking soda. Dip each pretzel in the solution for 30 seconds, then place on a greased baking sheet.
- 4Beat the egg and brush over each pretzel. Sprinkle with coarse salt.
- 5Bake at 425°F for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
