Ingredients
- •1 cup buttermilk
- •2 cups all-purpose flour
- •2 teaspoons salt
- •1 teaspoon black pepper
- •1 teaspoon paprika
- •1 teaspoon garlic powder
- •1 teaspoon onion powder
- •4 pounds chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, breasts)
- •3 cups vegetable oil
Directions
- 1Pour buttermilk into a bowl and place chicken pieces in it, coating well. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
- 2In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 3Heat oil in a large cast-iron skillet or deep fryer to 350°F.
- 4Remove chicken from buttermilk and coat thoroughly in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- 5Carefully place chicken pieces into hot oil and fry for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F, turning halfway through cooking.
- 6Transfer cooked chicken to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- 7Serve hot and enjoy.
