Spaghetti with Marinara Sauce and Ground Turkey

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 pound spaghetti
  • 28 ounces canned crushed tomatoes
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped

Directions

  1. 1Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente; drain and set aside.
  2. 2Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon until browned, about 5-7 minutes; drain excess fat if needed.
  3. 3Add minced garlic to the turkey and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. 4Stir in crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes; simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. 5Taste sauce and adjust seasonings as needed, then stir in fresh basil.
  6. 6Divide cooked spaghetti among serving bowls and top generously with turkey marinara sauce.
