Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked short-grain white rice, warm
  • 1 can Spam, cut into 8 slices
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 4 nori sheets, cut into wide strips
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

Directions

  1. 1Whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, and rice vinegar until the sugar dissolves.
  2. 2Pan-fry the Spam slices for 2 minutes per side until lightly browned.
  3. 3Pour in the soy mixture and turn the Spam until glossy and reduced, about 2 minutes.
  4. 4Press warm rice firmly into eight compact rectangular blocks.
  5. 5Top each rice block with glazed Spam and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  6. 6Wrap each musubi with a strip of nori and serve warm or at room temperature.

💡 Pack the rice firmly while it is warm; loose grains make the musubi crumble as soon as the nori is wrapped.
