Tamales
Tender corn masa filled with savory pork and wrapped in corn husks, steamed to perfection for a traditional Mexican breakfast.

Ingredients
- •2 cups corn masa harina
- •1 cup lard or butter, softened
- •1.5 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- •1 teaspoon baking powder
- •1 teaspoon salt
- •2 cups shredded cooked pork
- •1 cup red chile sauce
- •1 cup corn husks, soaked
- •1 cup shredded cheese
Directions
- 1Beat lard and masa harina together until fluffy, then add baking powder, salt, and broth to form a spreadable dough.
- 2Mix shredded pork with chile sauce and set aside.
- 3Spread about 2 tablespoons of masa onto the center of each soaked corn husk.
- 4Place a spoonful of pork filling and a pinch of cheese in the center of the masa.
- 5Fold the sides of the husk toward the center, then fold up the bottom and leave the top open.
- 6Stand tamales upright in a steamer pot with water below, cover with extra husks, and steam for 45-50 minutes until masa pulls away from husks easily.
