Privacy policy
Last updated October 6, 2026
This policy is being reviewed and may change. If it changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app.
This explains what Miamzi collects when you use it, why, who it goes to, and what you can do about it. Questions go to info@miamzi.com.
1. Who we are
Miamzi Solutions Inc. runs the Miamzi app at www.miamzi.com. When this policy says "we", it means Miamzi Solutions Inc., 148 Leblanc Avenue, Shediac, New Brunswick E4P 1Y8, Canada. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@miamzi.com.
2. What we collect
We collect what you give us and what the app needs to work:
- Your account: your email address and password (stored scrambled by our sign-in provider, never readable by us), or your Apple or Google sign-in; your first and last name; your username; and the postal code you give when you sign up.
- Your kitchen and cooking: the food you add (names, amounts, dates and where you keep it), your meal plans, grocery lists, saved and imported recipes, ratings, taste-deck answers and folders.
- Your food preferences: diets, allergies and intolerances, foods you avoid, how you like to cook, and what Chef Zi learns about your tastes in conversation. Allergy and diet information can reveal things about your health; we use it only to choose recipes for you.
- Photos you scan of groceries, your fridge or receipts. A receipt scan also saves the items, prices, store and date it reads.
- If you make something public: your handle, display name, bio, link and photo, the recipes you publish, the cookbooks you share and the meal plans you make public. We also keep who you follow, the groups you put your followers in (such as Family & friends), the meal plans you share with those groups, and any cooking activity you choose to share with them. Nobody is told the names of your groups. The people you follow can see that you follow them, and can remove you as a follower; nobody else can see who follows whom.
- Safety: reports you send about content, and the members you block.
- Usage records: for each AI request, its type, size, cost and time, so we can set fair limits and understand costs. If you turn on notifications, your browser's notification address and your time zone.
- If you delete your account, you may tell us why. That answer is stored without your name or email.
3. How we use it
To run Miamzi for you: tracking what is fresh, suggesting recipes that fit your kitchen and your diet, planning meals, building grocery lists, sending the notifications you turn on, and keeping the community safe. We also use it to limit abuse, fix problems and improve Miamzi. We do not sell your information, we do not show ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
4. AI features
Scanning, Chef Zi and recipes made for you use an AI model from Anthropic. We ask your permission before anything is sent. When you use these features, we send Anthropic what that request needs: the photos you scan, what you write to Chef Zi and what he has learned about your tastes, and the food in your kitchen with your diet and allergies when a recipe is made for you. Your email address is not sent. You can turn AI features off at any time in Settings; everything else in Miamzi keeps working.
5. Who we share it with
We use these service providers to run Miamzi. Each receives only what its job needs:
- Supabase: stores your account and everything in it, and handles sign-in.
- Vercel: hosts the app and keeps short-term technical logs.
- Anthropic: the AI features, only after you allow them (section 4).
- fal.ai: draws recipe photos from a recipe's title and ingredients. No personal information is sent.
- Cloudflare: stores and delivers photos.
- Backblaze: keeps backup copies of photos.
- GitHub: keeps our private nightly backups of the database.
- Resend: sends account emails, such as confirming your address or resetting your password.
- Microsoft: runs our email inbox, if you write to us.
- Flipp: grocery prices are switched off for now, and nothing is sent to Flipp. When they return, Flipp finds grocery prices in local flyers: each day our server reads the current flyers for the areas our members live in, sending only the first three characters of a postal code, never who lives there. For an area we do not cover yet, it looks up the items on your list, using their names and the first three characters of your postal code. When you look at an offer, its picture from the flyer loads straight from Flipp's servers, so Flipp sees your internet address, as any website you visit would; we send it no referring page, and nothing about you. A "See in flyer" link opens Flipp's own page and tells it the first three characters of your postal code, so it shows the flyer for your area.
- Open Food Facts: finds branded products when you add one, using the words you type. Product photos in that list load from their servers.
- TikTok: if you import a recipe from TikTok, we look up that post.
- Apple, Google and Mozilla: deliver the notifications you turn on, through your browser or phone.
- Recipe websites: if you import a recipe from a link, our server reads that page.
- Google Fonts: the app's typefaces load from Google, which sees your device's internet address when they do.
- Sentry: receives a report when something breaks in the app: what went wrong, on which screen, and your browser and device type. Your name, email and internet address are removed before it is sent. When a member reports content, Sentry also receives which public item was reported and the reason chosen, so we see it quickly; never who reported it, or their note.
5.1. What other people can see
Anything you make public (your profile, published recipes, shared cookbooks, public meal plans) can be seen by anyone. A public meal plan shows how many people saved it, never who. Family & friends cookbooks and activity can be seen only by the members you approve. We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
6. Where it is stored
Your account and everything in it are stored in Canada, in our database with Supabase. Backup copies of photos are also kept in Canada, with Backblaze. Our nightly database backups are kept with GitHub in the United States. The other providers in section 5 may process information in the United States or other countries when you use the features they run.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. When you delete your account, your kitchen, plans, saved recipes, profile and cookbooks are deleted from Miamzi. Recipes you made public are taken off Miamzi but not erased, because other members may have saved them. Copies of deleted information can remain in our private backups, which are used only to recover from a failure. We do not yet set a time limit on those backups; this policy will say when we do.
8. Your choices and rights
You can:
- see and change your information in the app, and download a copy of your kitchen, recipes, plans and lists (Export my data, in the account menu);
- delete your account in the app, at any time (Profile settings or the account menu);
- turn AI features off in Settings, and turn notifications on or off in the account menu;
- block another member, and report content;
- ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to info@miamzi.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have other rights, such as objecting to how we use your information or complaining to a privacy regulator. In Canada that is the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
9. Cookies and your device
We use cookies to keep you signed in. If you open a cook's public page or one of their recipes, we set a cookie for 30 days so that, if you then sign up, the cook who brought you is credited. The app also keeps some settings in your browser, such as your view choices. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
10. Children
Miamzi is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, write to info@miamzi.com and we will delete it.
11. Security
Information travels encrypted, and our database only lets each account read its own private data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect yours.
12. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
13. Contact
